A mad girl’s love poem (等我,你一定要等我。這就是愛。)

I shut my eyes and all the world drops dead;
I lift my lids and all is born again.
(I think I made you up inside my head.)

The stars go waltzing out in blue and red,
And arbitrary blackness gallops in:
I shut my eyes and all the world drops dead.

I dreamed that you bewitched me into bed
And sung me moon-struck, kissed me quite insane.
(I think I made you up inside my head.)

God topples from the sky, hell’s fires fade:
Exit seraphim and Satan’s men:
I shut my eyes and all the world drops dead.

I fancied you’d return the way you said,
But I grow old and I forget your name.
(I think I made you up inside my head.)

I should have loved a thunderbird instead;
At least when spring comes they roar back again.
I shut my eyes and all the world drops dead.
(I think I made you up inside my head.)”

–Sylvia Plath

Recent days have me going from bad to worse. I ought to, ought to move to something belonging to clearer skies, to do things materialistic and definite – instead I am lost in the middle of a song by Serge Gainsbourg (I bet you didn’t know he did jazz).

I mean to write and answer to all these letters, but here is how it is.

I have no need for good souls: an accomplice is what I wanted. – Jean Paul Sartre

I keep coming back, walking round and round in my life.

Things could be simpler but they aren’t, at this point in time.

And one day I might look back and laugh, laugh so hard that I lose sight of the light through the tears.

Half-broken, half-whole, how do I begin again without you.
