Shadows and Living;

“…we find beauty not in the thing itself but in the patterns of shadows, the light and the darkness, that one thing against another creates.”
In Praise of Shadows, Jun’ichirō Tanizaki
“THIS is thy hour O Soul, thy free flight into the wordless,
Away from books, away from art, the day erased, the lesson done,
Thee fully forth emerging, silent, gazing, pondering the themes thou lovest best.
Night, sleep, and the stars.” – Walt Whitman

I can’t begin to describe how much these words by Walt Whitman mean to me. At the end of the day, drained by investigation reports and the writing of production orders, when all one desires is love, and the imaginary stars one finds in dreams.
